Slam Jammers is the junior development program of the Dallas Tennis Association.
The Slam Jammers program exists to provide each player an opportunity to excel at the game of tennis. While accomplishing this, we also teach each child how to become disciplined in maintaining a high level of education as well as to exhibit strong leadership skills at all times.
Don’t Count Me Out!
The National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) Dallas Chapter was started by the DTA in 1978. For over 30 years thousands of inner city and at-risk children have participated in this program. Each child has the opportunity to earn racquets, bags, shoes, and clothing as well as a free 1 year USTA membership.
But there is more to this game than racquets and balls. Participants who excel can be rewarded in several ways; through one of the special awards given for outstanding play and sportsmanship, through a tennis scholarship or through free participation in the DTA junior development program called Slam Jammers.
This summer the DTA will once again team up with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department to offer free tennis programs to over 1,000 children. Students who excel in the program will be invited to compete in an end-of-season City Championship with an opportunity to participate in NJTL Kid's Day.
